Writing Workshop Schedule 300-315 Mini Lesson Mini lessons will consist of teaching about the writing process, the six traits and the genres of writing required the curriculum. 315-325 Quite 10 During this time I will play classical music and everyone, including myself, will quietly write, draw, or think for 10 minutes. 325-335 Independent Writing Time Conferences After the Quiet Ten, I will turn off the music and students have independent writing time.  During this time students are applying the skills they've learned from the mini lesson in their own pieces.  I will be monitoring students during this time and conferring with students who have signed up for a conference. when time permits Author's Chair When time permits,  I will allow up to 2 students who have signed up for author's chair to share. During this time the audience will "point & question" the author. I used the book, No More I'm Done by Jennifer Jacobson for writing instruction in my classroom. Check out her website!
